WWE’s Natalya talks about Triple H making women’s wrestling a priority

There is quite a bit of buzz around WWE these days, as the company exits the exciting Clash at the Castle event in Cardiff and has kept the momentum going with more surprises and welcome announcements, such as the recent reveal of the rebranded Survivor Series as Survivor Series War Games and will no longer be In traditional Raw vs SmackDown format. ComicBook.com had a chance to speak with the best of all time Natalya before taking on SmackDown tonight, as we discussed not only War Games but also her exciting feud with Ronda Rousey, Triple H prioritizing women’s wrestling, and how she feels about being so cute while playing heels on TV.

Natalya is currently a heel at SmackDown, but no matter if she’s a heel or a lovable face, she is always cute and hugs her fans on social media and at live events, which is part of the reason why her fans have always supported her.

“You know the funny thing is, you literally get the words out of my mouth. I think it’s because of my family, because of my background, because I’ve been doing this for so long, and I’ve only been working on this thing called professional wrestling, I feel like the fans have always been there for me,” said Natalia. “So whenever I’m brave or whenever I’m a good guy or a good girl or a bad guy or a bad girl, whatever you want to call it, whatever role I’ve been in, in WWE, the fans, they still respect me. They always respect me.”

“It’s hard sometimes because we have a lot of new girls coming in, so I really want to define my role so we don’t swim downstream. And I sometimes feel that it’s easier for me to be a good guy, because it’s so much easier when people hate you,” Natalya said. Be brand new, instead of making them fall in love with you.” “It takes time. It really takes time and fairness for our audience to build trust and fall in love with a character. So I’m still standing and I’m still behind, so I’m grateful for that.”

Natalya seems to be having a great time as a heel, especially during her feud with Ronda Rousey. In just a few weeks, Natalia and Rosie had a compelling feud that included stellar fights on social media and entertaining series on TV, including Natalya impersonating Rosie in the ring, with a baby stroller. If it looked like she was having fun, it really was.

“I was having the time of my life, and I remember saying to one of our head writers, I texted him and I was like, ‘Listen, I want to dress up as Rhonda. I want to dress up as Rhonda and I want to be under her skin. And I really want to feel like that, just like that’ How I feel inside. I think it would piss her off if I was wearing her uniform, so we made it happen and Natalya said “I think it shocked everyone.” Because Vince McMahon at the time was still there and he was laughing so hard when he saw me going to the ring and I had a wagon Kids and it was fun.”

“What I loved about this program with Ronda is that Ronda and I have a lot of history. We trained together before she came to WWE. We had a friendship and we never had a program together before. We didn’t have a competition before, but it was a way Also for me to remind people of how much I have as an actor. You want me to be good, I’ll be the good guy. You want me to be the bad guy, I’ll be the bad guy. You want me to turn on the mic and cut a promotion, I can cut a promotion. I just need to be able to do this. I need a story that gets me excited, and that story got me,” Natalia said.

Natalia and Rosie built an anticipation of their match in a short amount of time, and their excellent use of social media was a major factor in making that happen and driving people to invest.

“Even though it’s only been four weeks, I’ve been able to turn myself into a heel, get people excited about a story, and revitalize something between me and Ronda. I didn’t have this crazy resolve for three or four months like Charlotte and Ronda before the WrestleMania match.” “We’ve only had four weeks, but with the power of social media, we’ve been going back and forth a little bit on Twitter. She said some things that kind of hit me. She said some things that she bumped into, but at the end of the day, I wanted people to watch us on Smack.” Dawn, and to chime in and be like, ‘Wow, that was cool.’ Like Vince said, ‘Wow.’ People loved it. The things I did with Ronda were among the highest rated things on the show, so I was glad people took it well and made our match, which We finally got it on Money In The Bank, it made it exciting because we really enjoyed the story.”

It was also an exciting time in WWE for the women’s division in general, and the new roles of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon gave the division a welcome impetus. “I think that’s what we’re seeing now with Triple H emerging to take over as far as creativity goes, especially for women. With Stephanie being WWE co-CEO, it’s as if Triple H really does care about women. Women’s wrestling. He cares about being women. More appearances, as well as Stephanie, ”said Natalia.

“Now we’re seeing more women. We saw the Raw Women’s main event last Monday. We’re seeing more women’s pay-per-view matches. You’re seeing more women acting. You only watch women, women, women, throughout the show, and I think for a while. There, we started moving away from that. And I thought that was a priority. It was Triple H’s priority to get the girls back front and center,” Natalya said.

“That was one of the things I was most excited about when Triple H came back. I was like, ‘This is going to be really, really good for women, and I can’t speak for all the talent, but I just know that the women were just craving more acting.’ And Triple H, He’s been leading that acting since I took over the first NXT Takeover in 2014. So we’re so grateful. We’re so grateful and hopefully we can “keep that momentum up,” Natalya said.

Speaking of Triple H, it was recently announced that Survivor Series will be titled War Games, which has become popular with NXT TakeOvers. Now there will be War Games matches during the main roster event, and since there have usually been men’s and women’s War Games matches during past events, Natalya definitely wants to take part in the Survivor Series women’s match.

“I love being part of war games,” said Natalia. “I love all the new concepts. I love all these new and different ideas. I love bringing new women into the department.” “I’ve never been in a War Games match, but I’ve been a part of a lot of the first matches. I’ve been part of the first ever women’s peace match. The first ever Women’s Royal Rumble, first-ever women’s table match, first match Ever in a Diva tournament. First match in Saudi Arabia for women. I’ve been in a lot of first matches. I’ve never been in a war games match and it would be great to be a part of that.”

“It’s a first for me, so I think it’s great, and I love all the fresh new ideas that are coming and how there is a focus now, more than ever, on wrestling,” Natalya said. “We’re a wrestling company. I know we’re an entertainment company, but we wrestle. When you think of World Wrestling Entertainment, the name WWE, the heart of that name is wrestling. So I think Triple H was the wrestler himself, I think he really understood our struggles. He understands the journey. He He understands what it’s like to wear lace-up shoes and do it for a living. So I think we can expect a lot of great concepts and Natalya said, “There’s a lot of female representation going on while things are gaining momentum, but now WWE is about to take off and it’s really cool.” Watch it and be a part of it.”

You can watch Natalya in action every Friday night on FOX as part of SmackDown, and then for WWE is Extreme Rules, which will air live on Peacock on Saturday, October 8.
